I had no idea how hot cards in tri- sli get
I was at compusa/tigerdirect earlier and they were selling this ridiculousness priced gaming rig, so I decided to touch one of the gtx 260's and almost burned my friggen hand.
The side panel was also off! _________________

Yea, I too have been surprised and concerned about how hot and power hungry this shit has been getting. I'm hoping this trend doesn't continue.
I recently wrote this in the MSI forums:

ya the new 965 totaly kills the qx9770 by a landslide in 99.9% of all the tests.... Its alot less to 999 bucks vs. 1500...
Im trying to find the main diffrence between the two. all i see is hyperdrive and hyperthreading. _________________

what was interesting to me
sli results @ 19 x 12
a negative the cheaper one i7 920 @ 2.66, maxes out @ 130 watts
so buying the cheap processor and clocking it high may be difficult, and the temps seem kinda high on a few reviews
but shizzz its just so expensive:
need to buy a new damn mb and expensive ddr3
its not really worth the cash right now _________________

If i was anyone wanting to get this, wait for about 4 months, they stepping down to the new 32nm architecture. Lets just say this.
| Quote: | | How does six cores with twelve meg L3 and 3.6 GHz and above clocks sound? Well, kinda nice match to the 3-channel DDR3 finally. |

Ya they will... There first order of buisness was to get ATI up and running to put cash in there pockets...
Now look what they are doing to Nvidia... And to tell ya the truth i love nvidia, but really the R700 family or the 48xx series are fuggn good. Iv never read anything thing bad about one of them. Well nvidia, i hate to say it but they better do something quick and it doesnt look like they are, the GTX 270 and 290 are just revamped 260/280's arcetecture is the same, i beleave they just revised afew things and shrunk the die a bit to 55nm ovr 65. So alittle less power and alittle less hot, possibly a alittle bit faster, but with the same architecture means problems with the chips again. So many have been recalled so they better do somethign besides keep the same chips... Anywho, back on AMD, if the ex intel man that took secret design files and amd used them to creat better chips. then well intel would be screwd.
Here is the story
BACK IN SEPTEMBER we reported on a former Intel engineer being charged with stealing Intel’s most secret of design files and carrying them off to AMD in a poorly-executed attempt to impress his new masters.
The continuing investigation into the misbehaviour of Biswahoman Pani has now led Federal prosecutors to add four more charges and slap a price tag on the theft, a big round $1 billion.
The charges could net Pani a lifetime in jail or a hefty fine and a new career flipping burgers at McDonald’s.
In the real world, Intel engineers, like most techie workers, take work home with them every day – it’s a fact of 21st century life.
But the prosecution has set out to make an example of Pani, considering the alleged theft took place after the design engineer had dismissed himself.
AMD denied any attempt on the engineer to pass on the secrets or knowledge of the data theft. No word on the current employment status of said engineer has been passed on. _________________

Meh. ya i totaly agree. but with the i think its a dubai compnay that bought most the shares of amd/ati - dammit they call it. but anyways they laying off people that didnt do shit for the company bringing in new people, and i really think its going to go into a direction that will soon catch up with intel, but they do have along way to go. it took them what 2 years or more to catch up GPU wise but it could take them over a year to catch up CPU wise... It will be a waiting game but amd aint going down anytime soon... They are up profit wise where intel and nvidia are down, way down! _________________
