getting slaughtered by a massive wall of bodies storming at you
firebombing an entire section of jungle
traps in the jungle, getting ambushed etc....

I dunno BF2 had plenty of maps that were vehicle based, and this is not even going into the expansions (as i've never played them). I know Highway Tampa favoured tank combat (I was especially good at tank vs. tank combat), and most maps it was crucial to have people in the jets bombing enemy positions, and then having full blackhawks swoop in and take over a position.
I love to play and still play BF2 occasionally. In my opinion, I think it was the best Battlefield thus far. BF1943 has some great aspects to it, but it doesn't have the same zing as 1942. I think the battlefield was better off with their old engine, I never really liked the Frostbite engine. I think that was implemented in BF2142?
I have the sudden urge to insert my BF2 CD.
