You're kidding right? ViewSonic has long been a strong name in the display business. They're not often sold in typical stores, but through various online merchants and suppliers. This could possibly be why some haven't heard of them. Above all they're known for their visual performance and rock solid reliability. $200 may sound cheap, but this is from their value series (and it's still good...look for reviews on the product). This also depends where you buy it. If this were sold in a store like Best Buy it would most likely be around $260 (the base msrp).

Hitachi makes their projectors, as well as some of their TV components. I'm not saying every product they make is good, but for the most part their stuff is quality. Sorry...I'm just surprised anyone would label ViewSonic as "cheap". I would expect overpriced if anything (for their higher-end models). I've had my CRT from them six years strong and not a single issue with it.

I tend to agree. I have a pair of ViewSonic VP930b's on my desk at work and they are amazing. They are what has encouraged me to "upgrade" my 21" Sony G500 to LCD. Keep in mind, the VP930b is $300. My G500 cost $1200 (5 yrs ago)...

If money were no object, which LCD would you choose?
Those massive displays look interesting, but you need a dual head vid card to power them! That scares me... Any experiences? Thoughts?

ya, viewsonic is like the #1 brand for professionals doing crazy shit.

and someone said hitachi is a good company, and i agree with that, i got a hitachi 42" plasma 1080i, and i LOVE IT, amazing picture quality and it was very very reasionable price (aka much cheaper then same quality from bigger names such as sony, pioneer, etc.)

You know that if you're TV also has 720p, you're not fully using your TV's picture....

1080i isn't as good as 720p (1080i only draws half of those lines, and flashes back and fourth between two sets of 540 lines....while 720p always shows 720 lines. hence real HD (Unless you've bought the brand new 1080p screens....OoOoOoOo)

Well...yea but you also get twice the framerate with interlaced formats. Our eyeballs still perceive it to be the full thing. It may not be as crisp looking as progressive, but it's still better than a considerably lower resolution progressive picture. And the image doesn't noticably jerk when there's considerable movement in whatever you're watching. But yea, the real deal is definately 1080p. I guess depending on what you're watching would determine the best format for viewing. Wasn't this about computer monitors? Smile

Like a stadium or Times Square-like video screen.
