A while ago, I found a method to amplify the quiet people, while softening the louder folks. The compressor sound effect is how it's done, and while it sounds odd at first, it's very helpful once you get used to it.

On the Ventrilo setup page, check the Use DirectSound box for your output device. Click SFX, and add the Compressor effect. The values are:
Gain: 15 (adjust for loudness preference)
Attack 0.01
Release: 500
Threshold: -31
Ratio: 100
Pre-Delay: 4.0

This is, for example, very useful when Mif is on, when half the time he's a mile away from the mic, and the other half screaming directly into it Very Happy.

Hope people can find it useful Smile.

Thank God. I have to turn my speaker down when Lt.Dan is on because his mic is configured exceptionally loud.

Of course, my parents get mad at me when loud voices disturb their sleep. <_<

Sweet, I'll try it out Scuddie, thanks!
I think Mif is the most annoying, being on Mars half the time and right behind you you the other. Rolling Eyes

Yea, good job Azu...

I don't think it works though... I still have really loud and really quiet people and have to use the Volume adjustor for everyone. Confused

JUST now got around to trying this.

Seems to work.

Thought I'd reply so maybe someone who hasn't seen it might try it too.

Smoke bumps ball to Lax. Lax spikes ball, goes over net and score!
